📰 HSVOCWA Monthly Blog – October 2025

“From University Lawns to Full-Noise Dyno Runs – October Had It All!”

October came in hot (and a little damp to start) with two fantastic events that showcased everything we love about this club — shiny cars, good company, a bit of competition, and just the right amount of noise to upset the neighbours.

🎓 Curtin FM Car Show – Sunday, 5th October 2025

The month kicked off with the Curtin FM Car Show, held on the lush oval of Curtin University in Bentley. After a week of “will it or won’t it rain,” the weather decided to keep us on our toes — a light morning shower helped rinse the winter dust off our cars before turning into a cracking day of sunshine.

HSVOCWA came out strong with 17 cars on display, including one new recruit who joined the club on the day (welcome aboard!). Our lineup looked the part, arranged from newest to oldest, complete with club window shades, flags flying high, and the marquee stocked with club merch. It’s fair to say we looked professional.

While attendance from other clubs was a bit underwhelming, that only made our presence stand out more — we were, without question, the show’s head-turners.

The People’s Choice Award went to Ray Novak for his absolutely stunning VL Walkinshaw — a well-deserved win that had everyone nodding in approval.

All in all, it was a fantastic showing that proved, once again, the HSVOCWA knows how to make an impression.

🏁 HSVOCWA Dyno Day @ BYE Performance – Sunday, 26th October 2025

Fast forward a few weeks, and it was time to turn up the volume at BYE Performance in Welshpool for our annual Dyno Day.

This year saw 15 cars take to the rollers, with plenty of spectators packed in to watch (and feel) the action as engines screamed their way to peak horsepower. The event ran for about three hours of glorious noise, banter, and friendly rivalry, proving that horsepower really does bring people together.

The legends from Wheel Pizza were there once again to keep everyone fuelled up with an awesome selection of woodfired pizzas — which went down an absolute treat. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and they’ve already put their hands up to support another event in future (perhaps a twilight cruise once the days get longer — stay tuned!).

Among the highlights was Chris Curuso’s Corvette, which just about rattled the roof with its dyno runs. And who could forget Eddy Kong’s grin when he saw his numbers? You’d struggle to find a bigger smile in Perth that day. We even had a brave Torana take on the dyno — proving old-school muscle still has plenty to say.

As for the highest horsepower in each category, we’re keeping the suspense alive — the winners will be announced at our End-of-Year Gala Dinner on Saturday, 29th November. (Tickets are still available — don’t miss out on what’s always a cracking night!)

And finally, a cheeky nod to a few members from the motorsport crowd who talked the talk but decided to “sit this one out.” Apparently, 200 km/h on a track is fine — but a dyno run? Now that’s terrifying. 😏

📅 Looking Ahead – November 2025

Don’t forget to grab your tickets for the Gala Dinner on 29th November — it’s going to be an unforgettable night with awards, laughs, and maybe a few dodgy dance moves.

📝 Final Word

A massive thank you to BYE Performance and Wheel Pizza for their ongoing support, and to every member who comes along, shows off their pride and joy, and makes these events what they are.

As always, remember to register early for upcoming events — it helps us plan, keeps things running smoothly, and makes sure you don’t miss out on the fun.

See you all at the next one — and don’t forget to bring your horsepower and your appetite!
