August was a little quieter on the event front thanks to winter doing its best to slow us down, but the highlights we did enjoy were truly memorable.
We kicked off the month in spectacular fashion with a night at Rosco McGlashan’s workshop. What an event it was! To get up close and personal with Australia’s land speed record holder and hear his stories firsthand was a remarkable experience – one that left every attendee buzzing. It was more than just a night of entertainment; it was also a chance to give back. Thanks to the generosity of our members, we raised just over $700 in donations for Rosco, a gesture he was genuinely touched by. A big thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make the evening one to remember.
From there, we shifted gears with our Cruise to the Track and Free Hot Laps event. This was one for the books – a truly unique opportunity for members to not only enjoy a scenic club cruise but also get a taste of real track action. Social members were able to watch the on-track sessions up close, while those keen for more could strap in and experience some laps in their own cars under the guidance of some of our club’s best. The weather held out for us, making it a perfect day to explore what our cars – and our drivers – are capable of in a safe, controlled environment. The smiles coming off the track said it all!
While the winter weather meant fewer events overall this month, the quality of what we did run more than made up for the quantity. It’s events like these that showcase the diversity of our club calendar – from unique motorsport experiences to inspirational guest nights, there really is something for everyone.
Looking ahead, the seasons are starting to turn, and with better weather on the horizon, it’s time to start dusting off those HSVs that have been hibernating under car covers. September is a big month, and it all begins with our annual Peter Brock Memorial Cruise – always a heartfelt and meaningful event that brings members together to honour a true Australian legend.
As always, thank you to every member who came along, participated, donated, or simply supported the club this month. The commitment and energy of our members is what makes HSVOCWA thrive. Let’s keep building, keep turning up, and keep celebrating the cars and community we’re all here for.
