2024 - June Motorsport

Hi All

Another month has flown by and we have had what turned out to be a massive day @ Wanneroo (Carco) Raceway on the 16th June. It was looking rather bleak 2 x weeks out with only a handful of entries received but it was great to see club members rise to the challenge put to them by our illustrious President. A lot of creative work behind the scenes and we may have stumbled across a winning formula going forward for our track days.

Obviously we need to make some adjustments to the format going forward but members seemed to enjoy the different selection offered of driver training, passanger ride day and or full sprint event all wrapped up in one event. I think we can streamline the event to better cater to everyone and we could turn this mid-year sprint into a poster event for the whole year.

It is difficult to get track dates let alone ones that suit all competitors, clearly having the ability to give people the chance to have passengers is even more rare so this is something your Committee will goto work on and see what we can come up with for 2025.

The day itself was fine & cool to start, then a showery blast hit before lunch scaring the laptime chasers away but giving an excellent chance for some fun passenger ride sessions. There was plenty of slipping and sliding going on but to everybody's credit, no vehicles left the black stuff or needed retrieving at least. Everyone that braved the conditions and stuck around was rewarded with ideal conditions. The track dried quickly and after being washed, was actually pretty fast. Alot of people posted PB's again, a testament maybe to the driver training ellement of the day, allowing experienced members to go out and give more tuition to anybody willing to learn.

I hope the members that did the dedicated driver training session at the start of the day truly got something out of it. It was meant as a taster to what you can safely do with your pride & joy without too much risk. Hopefully we will see you back soon at an event as an entrant, times don't matter at the end of the day, fun factor is all important and plenty can atest to that being well worth the effort.
