HSVOCWA MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES
30th July 2024 – Leederville Sporting Club
MEETING OPEN:7:02pm
Hi All
Another month has flown by and we have had what turned out to be a massive day @ Wanneroo (Carco) Raceway on the 16th June. It was looking rather bleak 2 x weeks out with only a handful of entries received but it was great to see club members rise to the challenge put to them by our illustrious President. A lot of creative work behind the scenes and we may have stumbled across a winning formula going forward for our track days.

There’s a common assumption that it’s only for experienced drivers or heavily modified cars.
That’s not really the case with the HSV Owners Club of WA.
The club runs its motorsport events in a way that focuses on controlled conditions and steady progression, rather than pushing for outright performance.
You don’t need a dedicated track car.
You don’t need prior experience.
And you’re not expected to drive beyond your comfort level.
The structure of the events allows drivers to:
For most people, it’s simply about learning and improving over time.
Although the club has its roots in HSV vehicles, the events are open to a wide range of cars.
That includes:
The mix of cars tends to make the events more practical, as people are working with different setups and experience levels.
Last weekend’s Shannons Classic Car Show showed how broad the car scene is in Western Australia.
With Hundreds of vehicles on display, it brought together a wide range of cars and owners from different clubs.
Events like this aren’t directly about motorsport, but they often lead to conversations about getting more involved.
It’s fairly common for people to move from social events into track days over time.
Once they become more familiar with the club and the people involved, the idea of getting on track becomes more approachable.
The HSV Owners Club of WA provides a structured way to do that, without rushing the process.
The club places a strong emphasis on responsible driving.
That includes:
That approach tends to suit people who want to enjoy their cars without unnecessary risk.
If you’re considering doing more with your car, starting with a club event is usually the easiest step.
It gives you a chance to see how things operate and decide if you want to take it further.
