2026 - February - Motorsport

Well the the first event has been run & won, we had a great day at Wanneroo Raceway to start the motorsport calendar. It was a first try at a different concept and from all the feedback we received, it is something we will do in the future again for sure.

We shared the day with MX-5 Racing WA, being February and the chance of a scorching hot day, we opted to run the normal full track Sprint in the morning and get things underway quick & early which can be a challenge. Every competitor, which there was 40 of them, helped us by getting to the track super early and we were able to get underway by 8.10am. Then it was just a matter of getting as many groups thru as we could before our deadline of 11.45am came.

Most sprint competitors got between 18 and 23 hot laps in which is basically 6 or 7 sessions, a remarkable result given most people do that many on a full day of sprint action. Great value for money for those that only entered the morning sprint.

We then had to hand over to the Mx-5 guys to get their point to point set-up which is basically 1 x lap of the track starting and ending with a slalom exiting and entering pitlane. The afternoon session got underway at 12.15pm and 50 competitors, 20 of which were HSV Sprint entrants, did a total of 12 runs at the course layout, the timing system and great management of the MX-5 club made the day flow really quite fast and they were all done by 4.00pm.

So a great day was had and we look forward to other shared events next year. The next motorsport event is yet to be locked in but we are looking at a Kwinana Motorplex sprint in April or May, more info as it comes to hand & dates are secured.
