2022 - September - Motorsport
Hi all, round 6 of the championship was held recently at Wanneroo raceway or Carco Raceway as they call it now, until someone else comes along and pays for a different name. We will always call it Wanneroo however.
It was a gloomy start to the day with light rain making competitors nervous since every round this year had been wet and it looked like this was going to be the same yet again. It turned out to be a perfect winters day, the rain cleared after the first run and the track dried to be perfect.
There was a bumper field of 50 competitors, a great array of cars from Porsches, Holdens, Mazda’s, Datsun’s, Nissans, Toyotas, you name it, we had one in attendance. The day ran pretty smoothly, although a couple of incidents slowed the day including a bunch of local wildlife (ducks) deciding they needed a casual stroll across the track early in the morning. They got to the infield safely then decided, that was fun, and we should head back to the pitlane exit road. Their lack of haste was pretty frustrating but funny to watch!!!
A huge thanks needs to go out to our usual volunteers, Mike Miller, Luke Marsland, Laurie Parmenter, Doug Stevenson, Jason Botherson, Matt James-Wallace, without whom we could not run these days. A special mention to our flaggies that volunteered their Sunday to brave the conditions and help out, Karen, Mat and Jeff, I hope I got the names right, thankyou.
The online entry process again performed really well, thanks Jamie for keeping your eagle eye on proceedings online – Big Brother is watching people!!! Just remember people, you need to make sure to check/update your personal info or profile in particular their motorsport license details. It is very important that this is up to date as all this info is automatically transferred to your entry.
The next round will be Sunday 9th October at Wanneroo once again and Porsche club will run the event. I know it’s the Bathurst 1000 that day, but wouldn’t you rather pretend you are Craig Lowndes or SVG blasting around Wanneroo than watch TV??? I know it’s an unfortunate clash, but we can only take what dates we are given by WASCC.
Keep your eye out for the entry details on the club website or by email when the event is officially opened. Remember all Porsche club run events are Motorsport Australia events and entry is via the MA portal NOT via the HSV club.
Planning is underway for the 2023 calendar of events so stay tuned for what should be another great year.
See you at the track
Cheers
