Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Festivus or whatever you celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful festive period with your family and loved ones.
The last few months have been pretty chockers. I hope we’ve put on enough events to satisfy everyone and to those who have attended, thank you. Without the attendance of members, there’s no point running the events. So thanks for making each and every event a success.
From cruises to museum tours, to cars and coffee events and indoor go karting, from trips down south and show and shines, there’s been something for everybody.
Since the September edition, we’ve put on a heap of events, starting with the inaugural HSV Owners Club presents Cool Cars and Coffee in mid October! Unfortunately, the venue picked to host didn’t adhere to their published business hours and decided not to open until we had already decided to move up the road to a better setting. None the less, we had a great turnout with nearly 30 cars attending. Keep an eye out for the next one early in the new year!
The weekend after that, we hosted the HSV Owners Club Dyno Day at BYE Performance. Once again, Chantelle did a great job setting up this event and Justin and the team at BYE looked after our cars. Personally, it was a great event for me. I managed to increase power in my all-but-stock VX by 32hp at the rears and over 40nm of torque. I was really happy! Thanks to those who turned up and thanks to Chantelle for organising this one!
The following weekend, we backed it up with the Joondalup Festival of Motoring. This is the first time the City of Joondalup have run this event, and it was a huge success. I was asked by the organisers to provide some ideas for future events, in order to help draw in a larger crowd, more family friendly crowd, so I have done that. The HSV Owners Club put on a great display and we have a terrific location on Boas Avenue, between the busy Lakeside Shopping Centre and the race finish line, which meant for a heap of foot traffic past our club display! Thanks to everyone who came out and spent the day and congratulations to HSVOCWA member Matt James-Wallace for securing 2nd place overall.
Just because we hadn’t had enough events in a row, the following weekend was the second running of the HSVOCWA South West Cruise to Albany. 10 cars departed Armadale McDonalds destined for the beautiful South West town of Albany on Saturday the 5th of Nov. Unfortunately, after a snapped axle claimed one of the members, only 9 cars made it. However, we had a great time. Most of the attendees had attended the first version of this cruise last year, and hopefully, they, along with some new faces, attend the third version next year, if it happens.
Then, to top it off, the weekend after that, we participated in the GM Owners Day. Huge thanks to Jason and Jamie for assisting me getting some decent numbers to make our HSV Owners Club display a very strong one. It was a great day out with some very good looking cars. Thanks to all the members who came and displayed and dropped past to say hi.
As I am writing this, it’s not even mid-November yet, but after 5 weeks of events in a row, I need a break from cars! Time to spend some time with the family, but I will be back with some more events in the new year! Keep your eyes peeled! Again, Merry Christmas from my family to yours and a Happy New Year!
