2023 - September - Motorsport

Hi All, its been a bit quiet on the club motorsport front but the year is going to come to a busy end with plenty of track action to come.

The last couple of events have been tricky for our size cars to compete with the smaller WRX’s and the like but you cannot always have it all your own way. The Hillclimb at Jack’s Hill is testing but I think you will agree it was still fun. Same goes for the tricky carpark of the Speed  dome in Midvale.

The final competitive run at Wanneroo for the year is our next event, round 7 is on 22nd October and will be hosted by the Porsche Club. All the info should be out via email soon so make sure you get straight onto your entry when it arrives.

This should be a busy day being the last run on Wanneroo Raceway, I know a lot of members are super keen to get out on the wide open space of that famous back straight and test out their new toys. If you are not going to enter, still come along for a spectate, there will be a huge variety of cars competing.

To round out the club championship, the always highly anticipated Collie double header is coming up November 4/5th. The Collie cup is the inaugural award for the member who is best across both days. It is not the fastest who wins but the most consistent so literally any competitor can win this prestigious award. Hopefully Aaron and Chad will give someone else a chance to win, both being multiple cup winners, they are the favourites but its upto the rest of us to knock them off. Its also a great social event with most camping at the track for the weekend. It’s always a fun night Saturday, sitting around the campfire, telling story’s and just having a good time with fellow enthusiasts.

The last event for the year is non-competitive but is a huge day for all members, the ride day 10th December at Wanneroo is an awesome opportunity to take family and friends for a spin in your pride and joy at speed in a safe controlled environment. It’s a once-a-year chance to show off without going silly of course. Any club member can enter just make sure you read the regulations for what is required in regard to safety.

Results for all events are, as always, elsewhere in this edition with updated championship points table as well. You can always access these on the club website at anytime.

See you at the track

Cheers
